Gates Of Hell

Image Type:
Misc. Image

This is the site of a large cave opening in a large rock face. The gentiles considered this the opening to the place of the dead or the "gates of hell". It was in a large solid rock face. When Jesus called Peter a "stone" and that the "gates of hell" couldn't stand against his confession, then Jesus was making contrasts of a stone versus a large rock and how even the power of death couldn't stand against the confession that Jesus was the son of God. To the right is the shrine or temple of the mythological god "Pan". Scripture: Matt 16:18
