Creation
Main Point to Remember God made everything.
Discuss who God is - all powerful, all knowing, everywhere at
once
Lesson
Have you ever wondered about our world what makes
us have day and night, why we have the water and the land, where all the plants
and animals came from, and even about yourself? These are all important
questions -- questions people have always asked. Just looking around you can
help you know something about the answers... Read the entire lesson...
Activity Print out and cut out the
Creation Flashcards.
Line up the numbers on the table. Hand out a different picture to each student
(print multiple copies if needed). As you tell the lesson, have students match
their card to the day as you get to it. Afterwards, use the cards to drill
students.
Place different shapes of construction paper on the floor. Play musical blessings to your
singing. Have students name an item of creation that is the color they ended on. (One
player: have student pick up each color as they go).
Object lesson: give each student some kind of craft
material: clay, paper and crayons, scissors and cardboard, etc. Tell each person
to create something in 2 minutes. Discuss how it takes us a long time to make
nice things - but that God is so powerful and creative he did it all in 6 days.
THEN take away the craft materials. Tell the students to make something. When
they ask - how? Discuss how God made everything from NOTHING. This is something
man cannot do. Ever. All the raw materials we use to build monuments, sculpt
art, and even cook dinner - he made from nothing. Can we speak things into
existence? No - but god can. (Side note: According to John 1:1, what is the Word
of God?)
Discussion for older students: Why are people nice
to bullies? Because they know that bullies are stronger and more powerful. The
bully might hurt the us if we are not nice. We show "respect" this way simply
for the sake of self-preservation. Why then, do people disrespect God? God is
more powerful than any bully? The smart thing to do is to show him respect! We
are blessed that our God is a merciful God. But both his love and his power
deserve respect. The fact that he is all-powerful and still merciful deserves an
even greater measure of reverence and thankfulness on our part.
Craft: Layer the world into existence: Print clip
art of the following on transparency paper: Blue water; dry land; dark side; trees; sun and moon;
animals; man Discuss each day as you layer each one on.
