Number 13-14, Deut. 1:19-46

One of the Israelites' big problems was fear. They feared they would be left alone against the wilderness, against the Canaanites, against their own physical needs of hunger and thirst. God had provided all they needed. He had taken them through these difficulties to show them He would always care for them. But when it came time for God to give them what they wanted -- a place of their own, a land full of food, freedom as a nation -- they were too scared of the Canaanites to believe God would provide.

What things do we ask for, but then refuse to pursue, because we think we have to do it on our own?
