Parable of the Mustard Seed


Jesus' parable story of how a man planted a tiny mustard seed and it grew into a plant large enough for the birds to perch in.

SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 13:31-32 31 He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches."

Jesus told many parables that began, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like…” (Review meaning and definition of the word “parable.”) Many people use the description that a parable is an earthly story with a Heavenly meaning.

One day he told a parable and it said this: The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, which is the very smallest of seeds, but when it is planted in the ground it becomes the largest of plants.

How is the Kingdom of Heaven like a mustard seed? Well, it started real small with just a few people in the city of Jerusalem. Before you know it, we read in the Bible that the church had spread all over the world. Today we see that the Lord is being worshipped all over the world, too
