- YET MORE FREE SAMPLE POWERPOINT BACKGROUNDS - Another website of religious PowerPoint backgrounds is praisepix.com They have some outstanding photos. - ONLINE VIDEO SERMON SAMPLES - Last month we announced a sample web site of online audio lessons. This month we are pleased to announce a great website of online video lessons! A church in New York has produced a variety of cable TV videos for the last several years and are in the process of converting them over to online versions. I have seen several online video sites and most have pretty miserable video quality. This site has good quality but be aware that download times can be long for people with a 56K modem. The videos are not just preaching but interviews, panel discussions and more. They include lessons such as "Coping With Stress", "Healing Depresssion Through the Bible", "Counseling People With Sexual Sins", "A Christian Approach to Confict" and "Baptism - The Essential Decision". - NEW VISUAL AIDS BOOK - David Roper has produced a new visual aids book. This is a general purpose book that not only covers traditional visual aids but also has some chapters on using computers and video projectors. This book is designed for helping teachers improve their skills. The book would be great for a teacher's training series. If you are responsible for coordinating teaching programs I suggest that you use this book in your monthly teacher meetings. Go over one chapter at each meeting and help build your teacher's skills. - WORSHIP SOFTWARE - We are aware of at least 25 different software products for showing songs with a video projector during worship. All are in English. What we want to know is who is doing non-English versions? Has anyone put out a Spanish worship software product yet? This month we became aware of another free English version: http://tobias.blom.org/VideoPress If you know of non-English versions then contact me. I sure would like to identify some Spanish and French versions.

- COOL VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE - If your church is into editing digital video then you need to try out this software: http://www.seriousmagic.com/ This software has been getting some awesome reviews. I am not sure if this is really a professional grade product but it is very very cool and you will definitely have a lot of fun with it. The feature I like the most is the "green screen" feature where you can put someone's face in front of any other background video you want. We don't get anything for telling you about this product. . . . we just pass on things that we think you should know about.

- POWERPOINT ALTERNATIVE - Looking for an inexpensive ($75) alternative to MS Office and PowerPoint then try : http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/6.0/get/index.html#download

- CHURCH LIGHTING - The most common problem I see in church video projector installations is failure to change their lighting to account for the use of the new system. There are two key items . . . . First: make sure that your speaker is lighted as bright as the screen behind them. Second: Adjust your lighting to reduce the amount of light shining on the screen. - BIBLES IN 140 LANGUAGES - - This site claims that it has Bibles in over 140 languages!: http://www.ethnicharvest.org/bibles/

- TELL YOUR FRIENDS? - There are lots of websites for people who don't use computers to teach. - ONLINE AUDIO SERMON SAMPLES - A variety of churches are starting to put audio versions of their sermons on the web. - WORSHIP SOFTWARE UPDATES - Prologue SundayPlus has announced that they have a new version of their software that now runs on Macintosh computers. Visit SundayPlus.com for more information. We are continually amazed at the number of software products that come along for presenting songs and scriptures in worship. This month we introduce a free software program called Lyrics Software. Although it is not free, another software product that we have learned of is: www.ShowNak.com. ShowNak has the rather unique feature of being able to SCROLL song and other text. There are too many english software products for churches to support. What we want to know is who is doing non-English versions? Has anyone put out a Spanish worship software product yet? - EVENTS PAGE - There are lots of workshops for Sunday School Teachers and Preachers but few that key on using Technology. We have a page devoted to such seminars. - 70+ PALM, WINDOWS & MAC BIBLES - - Here is a neat site that offers lots of free Bibles in over 35 Languages (including Greek)!: Bible Database Palm software is hard to find and check the link on this site to Palm based Bibles! They also have Windows and Mac based texts. A lot of this material is simply text material that you access through simple readers.

- "MAN ON THE STREET" INTERVIEWS - Some of the most popular sermon illustration videos are when churches send out teams to the street corners and see what opinions they get. People's candid answers are often great sermon sparklers. People are asked questions like "Do you believe in heaven?", "What do you think happens when people die?", "Is there a God?". Has your church made "Man on the street" interviews? Do you have clearance forms signed by those interviewed? Would you be willing to share those videos with others? If the answer to these questions is "yes" then contact me.

- NEW POWERPOINT CHAT GROUP - Tom Steed, who is the author of our PowerPoint sermon series, has started a PowerPoint chat group. This group is for preachers and others that support making PowerPoint based sermons. Join up to ask your questions and to help others. - "KLEZ" VIRUS FAKES EMAILS - The "Klez" virus is one of the most active virus on the Internet today. The particular bad characteristic of this virus is that it fakes the address that it is being sent from. As a result, you may get an email that has the Klez virus attached but it won't be coming from the person that it says it came from. This makes it particularly hard to find out who has the virus. New viruses are coming along all the time. If you don't have virus protection software then make sure that get some. If you observe that your computer sends out emails that you didn't mean to send then you may have a virus that is automatically sending itself out from your computer. The bottom line is: if you don't have virus software installed on your computer then you shouldn't be on the Internet. You probably already have viruses and don't even know it! - KIM'S CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL UPDATE - Kim has made a massive reorganization of her children's Sunday School material to make it even easier than ever to find just what you need. - GROWTH PAINS - The eBibleTeacher.com website continues to grow at a high rate. Last month we had over 50,000 visitors who made over 300,000 pageviews. We have outgrown our web host and have to move to a new computer. This is causing some problems. It is great to have growth, even if it does sometime create confusion. Thanks for spreading the word about eBibleTeacher.com Lots of traffic means that many church teachers, preachers and leaders visit the site. If you want to advertise with us then let us know. There are a lot of expenses with a site like this and advertisement income helps defray costs. Email me for details.

- OUR "FAVORITES" PAGE - We have been reviewing sites and software for some three years now. Last month we put out our first annual "Favorites" issue where we listed the websites and software that we thought was the best we have seen. We list the best sites for PowerPoint backgrounds, Bible lands photos, Free online Bible software, and teacher's resources. This includes both our favorite free and commercial sites and software. - EVENTS PAGE - There are thousands of teacher and preacher training seminars held each year but few tell you how to effectively use the new technology. We have established a web site where we list the upcoming seminars, workshops and conferences that help church leaders and teachers better use computers, the Internet and technology. - FAVORITE FREE BIBLE STUDY SITE - Without a doubt, our favorite free Bible Study site is the one at: www.StudyLight.org/. This is another great resource put out by the folks at HeartLight. The site features over 20 free Bibles and over 35 other free Bible Study resources. You can even personalize your study set-up. Every few weeks they add even more material.

- FAVORITE GENERAL FREE SITE FOR CHILDREN'S TEACHERS - This site is not specifically for religious teaching but nevertheless it is a very useful site for those that teach children. It is a puzzle making site. Type in the keywords that you want to use and the site will make any of over a dozen puzzles for you to use in Bible Class. Check them out at: www.PuzzleMaker.com.

- FAVORITE WORSHIP SOFTWARE - Worship software is software designed to show song lyrics, sermon points and scriptures in worship. This is a tough category . . . there are a variety of good packages. - FAVORITE CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL E-NEWSLETTER - For the last couple of years, Christian Crafters has put out a free weekly newsletter for Children's Sunday School teachers. The newsletter collects ideas from Sunday School teachers from a wide range of religious groups and provides opportunities for readers to both submit ideas and ask questions. - POWERPOINT BACKGROUNDS FROM Snapistry - Several months ago, we recommended www.www.Snapistry.com (formerly ProBackgroundArt.com). They are another great source of quality PowerPoint backgrounds. They have a fairly large collection of free samples and over 1,500 images that can be browsed on the web. Instead of ordering a CD, you pay $4.99 for a one month subscription or $9.99 for a three month subscription to be able to download from their large selection. - DOUG BARWELL'S POWERPOINT SONG CDROM - Doug Barwell has produced two CDROMS's of songs formatted in PowerPoint. He has the text of CCLI's 25 most popular songs overlayed on his original photos. He also has a similar disk of 200 Popular songs from CCLI. The disks are $39 and $149 respectively. You can get some free samples on his site. You can visit his site at : www.DougBarwell.net . - MANNA BIBLE MAPS - If you are looking for a great set of maps then you should consider Manna Bible Maps at: www.BibleMaps.com . I have reviewed a copy and am VERY impressed with the extensive features of the software. The disk includes maps, schematics, timelines, etc. Almost every feature is hotlinked to additional information. All the maps also are provided in PowerPoint format. - VIRTUAL BIBLE - ABRAHAM - The folks at "The Virtual Bible" have released their first CDROM. I've had an opportunity to review the disk about Abraham. The software consists of a map of the journey of Abraham accompanied with a 1/8 screen sized "movie" showing and describing the life of Abraham and showing the scenes along his journeys. Several of the scenes include helicopter flyovers of important sites. The CD keys on archaeology and also includes some 3D views of an ancient house, palace, temple and city gate of Megiddo as well as 3D views of a variety of archaeological clay pots. - POWERPOINT TRAINING RESOURCES - Claudyne Wilder is one of the premier trainers for business people and teachers that are looking for improving their PowerPoint skills. Although her material is tuned toward business applications we are sure that you will find lots of useful information. Her CD called "Slides That Win' includes 300 example slides of how to make compelling content. This material shows you how to make effective PowerPoint slides. It also includes 22 free backgrounds. - FREE PALM DOCUMENTS - Its been a while since we listed some Palm resources. We have found a site with dozens of free religious documents including Bibles, commentaries and public domain Christian texts. It also has a variety of non-Christian texts including the Koran and eastern religion documents. There are also thousands of secular documents.
